Facebook’s all in one plan

Facebook’s combining all its family apps’ notifications together. In a beta testing for some iOS users, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram notifications were all found on the Facebook app.

Instead of the usual Messenger logo, the upper right icon will feature the user’s profile photo. This icon also shows the familiar red notification number of all the user’s accounts. Clicking on this will open a new menu, in which users can choose which profile they want to open.

TechCrunch got in touch with Facebook, and the company confirmed the test feature:

“We are conducting a very small test to make it easier for people to discover and connect with the people and things they care about. We’re exploring ways to help people switch more easily between their Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram accounts.”

No surprise there, as Facebook also recently rolled out a feature that combines Instagram and Facebook messages in one place. For social media marketers, this can be a great tool to help them be on top of their platforms and social activity.

This integration could be a hit or miss highly dependent on user experience and ease of navigation. Managers looking to zone in on their communities on separate platforms will look for a concise approach in terms of engagement as opposed to a literal, all in one.
